The Enchanted Guillotine

A Mystery
by invisible person

The pretty, country town of Camborne holds a secret.

Fred Humble has the perfect life working as a gardener in the city and loving with his understanding girlfriend, Flora Butterscotch.

However, when he finds an enchanted guillotine in his cellar, he begins to realise that things are not quite as they seem in the Humble family.

A birthday party leaves Fred with some startling questions about his past, and he sets off to backward Camborne to find some answers.

At first the people of Camborne are grateful and smart. He is intrigued by the curiously intelligent cleaner, Mavis Gloop. However, after she introduces him to hard liquor, Fred slowly finds himself drawn into a web of sloth, impersonation and perhaps, even murder.

Can Fred resist the charms of Mavis Gloop and uncover the secret of the enchanted guillotine before it's too late, or will his demise become yet another Camborne legend?

Created on 26th January 2015.
