The Curse of the Vibrating Cucumber

Whilst investigating the death of a local mechanic, an oblivious nurse called Dert Dryfus uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, vibrating Cucumber circulating throughout Monrovia. As soon as anyone uses the Cucumber, he or she has exactly 3 days left to live.

The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look rainbow-tinted. A marked person feels like a simple bear to touch.

Dert gets hold of the Cucumber, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a giant fox balancing on a moist mechanic, an old newspaper headline about a sausage accident, a hooded hyena ranting about legs and a drinking well located in a vile place.

When Dert notices his paws have bear-like properties, he realises that the curse of the vibrating Cucumber is true and calls in his secret admirer, a fishmonger called Buxom Bunny, to help.

Buxom examines the Cucumber and willingly submits herself to the curse. She finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. She finds the giant fox balancing on a moist mechanic particularly chilling. She joins the queue for a supernatural death.

Dert and Buxom pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded hyena. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
