Shirely Muffington is a built, fat and down to earth gardener from England. Her life is going nowhere until she meets Chad Thunderc*ck, a skinny, ebonic man with a passion for books.

Shirely takes an instant disliking to Chad and the forgetful and snotty ways he learnt during his years in the seaside.

However, when a penguin tries to murder Shirely, Chad springs to the rescue. Shirely begins to notices that Chad is actually rather gentle at heart.

But, the pressures of Chad's job as a doctor leave him blind to Shirely's affections and Shirely takes up socialising to try an distract himself.

Finally, when rude mechanic, Biff Blington, threatens to come between them, Chad has to act fast. But will they ever find the incredible love that they deserve?
