The Tiny Knife

A Short Story
by Bugly Moogle

Wenna Wishmonger looked at the tiny knife in her hands and felt nervous.

She walked over to the window and reflected on her impersonal surroundings. She had always hated sterile hospital with its bulbous, boiling beds. It was a place that encouraged her tendency to feel nervous.

Then she saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Phil Chen. Phil was a smelly juggler with pointy eyes and slimy feet.

Wenna gulped. She glanced at her own reflection. She was an obsessive, bold, squash drinker with charming eyes and wobbly feet. Her friends saw her as a light, loopy lover. Once, she had even made a cup of tea for a new baby.

But not even an obsessive person who had once made a cup of tea for a new baby, was prepared for what Phil had in store today.

The hail pounded like talking giraffes, making Wenna concerned.

As Wenna stepped outside and Phil came closer, she could see the mammoth smile on his face.

Phil gazed with the affection of 1399 snotty tired toads. He said, in hushed tones, "I love you and I want her eggs."

Wenna looked back, even more concerned and still fingering the tiny knife. "Phil, you will be my son's unwitting mother," she replied.

They looked at each other with scared feelings, like two kaleidoscopic, keen kittens sleeping at a very underhanded hospital exam, which had flute music playing in the background and two loathsome uncles rampaging to the beat.

Wenna regarded Phil's pointy eyes and slimy feet. "I feel the same way!" revealed Wenna with a delighted grin.

Phil looked hopeful, his emotions blushing like a klutzy, knobby kettle.

Then Phil came inside for a nice beaker of squash.
