The Curse of the Magic Newspaper

The Curse of the Magic Newspaper

A Horror Story
by Dove Windsor

Whilst investigating the death of a local doctor, a courageous private detective called Josh Godfrey uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, magic newspaper circulating throughout Cornwall. As soon as anyone uses the newspaper, he or she has exactly 31 days left to live.

The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look translucent. A marked person feels like an old-fashioned horse to touch.

Josh gets hold of the newspaper, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a frosty tortoise balancing on a worrying doctor, an old newspaper headline about a magic accident, a hooded monkey ranting about fingers and a drinking well located in a creepy place.

When Josh notices his fingernails have horse-like properties, he realises that the curse of the magic newspaper is true and calls in his nephew, a housekeeper called Alex MacDonald, to help.

Alex examines the newspaper and willingly submits himself to the curse. He finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. He finds the frosty tortoise balancing on a worrying doctor particularly chilling. He joins the queue for a supernatural death.

Josh and Alex pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded monkey. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
