The Curse of the Green Feijoia

The Curse of the Green Feijoia

A Horror Story
by acflory

Whilst investigating the death of a local mathematician, a lithe computer programmer called Miir Tahn uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, green feijoia circulating throughout Hong Kong. As soon as anyone uses the feijoia, he or she has exactly 187 days left to live.

The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look transparent. A marked person feels like a glittering spider to touch.

Miir gets hold of the feijoia, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a silver cockroach balancing on a metallic mathematician, an old newspaper headline about an avoidable accident, a hooded koala ranting about ears and a drinking well located in a cosy place.

When Miir notices his elbows have spider-like properties, he realises that the curse of the green feijoia is true and calls in his sister-in-law, a pianist called Ima Summa, to help.

Ima examines the feijoia and willingly submits herself to the curse. She finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. She finds the silver cockroach balancing on a metallic mathematician particularly chilling. She joins the queue for a supernatural death.

Miir and Ima pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded koala. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
