The Curse of the Tiny Record

A Horror Story
by Dove Windsor

Whilst investigating the death of a local teacher, a popular swordsman called Matthew Zeus uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, tiny record circulating throughout Cornwall. As soon as anyone uses the record, he or she has exactly 203 days left to live.

The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look pickled. A marked person feels like a solid puppy to touch.

Matthew gets hold of the record, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a squidgy dog balancing on a snooty teacher, an old newspaper headline about an apocalyptic accident, a hooded fox ranting about elbows and a drinking well located in a rural place.

When Matthew notices his thighs have puppy-like properties, he realises that the curse of the tiny record is true and calls in his nephew, a doctor called James Sparkle, to help.

James examines the record and willingly submits himself to the curse. He finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. He finds the squidgy dog balancing on a snooty teacher particularly chilling. He joins the queue for a supernatural death.

Matthew and James pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded fox. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
