Devilish Jack Quire

A Short Story
by Jason Weaver

Jack Quire looked at the shiny guitar in his hands and felt content.

He walked over to the window and reflected on his rural surroundings. He had always loved sunny Nineveh with its tense, thirsty trees. It was a place that encouraged his tendency to feel content.

Then he saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Stephen . Stephen was a loud brute with long arms and ruddy fingers.

Jack gulped. He glanced at his own reflection. He was a Devilish, social, beer drinker with nice arms and short fingers. His friends saw him as a yarbelicious, youthful youtuber. Once, he had even made a cup of tea for a ratty cat.

But not even a Devilish person who had once made a cup of tea for a ratty cat, was prepared for what Stephen had in store today.

The sun shone like running cats, making Jack irritable.

As Jack stepped outside and Stephen came closer, he could see the late smile on his face.

Stephen glared with all the wrath of 6073 funny few flies. He said, in hushed tones, "I hate you and I want to delete your freakin YouTube channel because it’s freakin embarrassing."

Jack looked back, even more irritable and still fingering the shiny guitar. "Stephen, you SUCK at guitar," he replied.

They looked at each other with furious feelings, like two bitter, bad birds rampaging at a very funny pool party, which had reggae music playing in the background and two angry uncles yelling to the beat.

Suddenly, Stephen lunged forward and tried to punch Jack in the face. Quickly, Jack grabbed the shiny guitar and brought it down on Stephen's skull.

Stephen's long arms trembled and his ruddy fingers wobbled. He looked shocked, his emotions raw like a vacant, vigilant vacuum cleaner.

Then he let out an agonising groan and collapsed onto the ground. Moments later Stephen was dead.

Jack Quire went back inside and made himself a nice drink of beer.
